Gimme A Break -- Or Not
One must truly admire European style, more specifically the stylish Italian gentleman.  From double breasted blazers paired with jeans to handsome suiting and driving shoes, the Italians know style.  If you consider yourself a stylish individual, then you NEED to pick up some style tips from the boot-shaped country.  Italians love to flaunt their socks or their ankles by wearing pants/dress trousers with a short break.  Short breaks are considered high fashion, very daring, but exquisite when done right.  A great double breasted blazer paired with jeans with an extremely short break (rolled cuffs) and a sweet pair of wingtips look both sophisticated and stylish.  Or perhaps a suit with a short break paired with some really amazing socks so as to show them off is also a "haute" look.  Jump on the Italian bandwagon today, and when the look finally becomes mainstream and makes its way to the states, you will be ahead of the curve like all the other fashionistos out there.

Oh Go "Brogue" Yourself (And other -Pede Positions)!

Okay if I see one more pair of thong sandals paired with an ensemble this summer I'm going to scream.  No there isn't anything wrong with them, only I am beginning to think men don't realize there is more to footwear than thong sandals (basketball shoe no-no's will be discussed later).  So to help you along the path to shoe wellness, I thought I'd give you some other options that are super versatile and work with jeans, chinos, shorts or dress trousers.  Look to J.Crew and Banana Republic to supply you with the following extremely versatile shoes:

  1. Penny Loafer
  2. Driving Loafer
  3. Suede/Nubuck Boot
  4. Brogue/Wingtip
  5. Suede Buck Oxfords
  6. Canvas shoe/sneaker
  7. Deck/Boat Shoe

Remember, the key here is to choose NEUTRAL COLORS in order to extend the shoes versatility.  Natural tones, blacks, and navy hues will work with denim, chinos, shorts, and dress slacks very easily.  Penny loafers and brogues work well with your dress trousers, but can easily elevate your look when worn with your favorite flat front shorts or denim.  Give those sandals a break, and don't even think about those athletic shoes (unless you're IN the gym), and make yourself look a bit more style-conscious this summer.

How to Wear The Pants This Summer

For those of us that love shorts, but still enjoy wearing our chinos and denim throughout the summer to those that hate the thought of shorts but want to show off those lovely ankles, I have a solution.  Not many great things came from 80's fashion, but the tight roll did!  The tight roll is a way to "cuff" your pants slightly so you look sexy and cool, whether you're a guy or a girl.  So no matter who wears the pants in your relationship, here's how to look stylish while you're doing it.  Allyn Paul shows us how to do it here!
